DABOLIM: The Principal of Keshav Smriti school has been suspended for making female students attend an Islamic workshop and forcing them to wear a Hijab.
As per the information, the Principal Shankar Gaonkar has been suspended with immediate effect following a complaint from parents.
The workshop was organised by the Islamic Students Organisation and was not as per the Education Department circular.
“Our children complained saying they were taken to a masjid and made to wear hijab and perform some Muslim religion rituals,” said a parent on the basis of anonymity
Vishwa Hindu Parishad who reached the scene termed the workshop as School Jihad while claiming that Students Islamic organisation is linked to banned PFI.
VHP also claimed that Hindu students were told not to believe in stone ideologies by Maulana in the Masjid.
VHP said that the students were taken based on the recommendation of Islamic Student organization which is linked to PFI.
The recommendation letter does not have any endorsement from the Education Department or the ADEI.
They also said that there is no approval from school management.
“These are anti-national activities which have been supported by the principal,” VHP said.
The parents also further said that a police complaint be filed against the principal and there should be strict action.
Meanwhile, Parents said that the Education Department should come out with a circular banning all such workshops across Goa.
