GNGPL caters to the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to Domestic households (DPNG), Commercial setups, Industrial customers and CNG for vehicles (CNG through CNG Filling Stations).
The Company is working towards the Government of India mission of increasing the share of gas in the country’s energy mix to 15% by 2030 from the present levels of 6.5 % and covering 70% of the country population connected to the CGD network. GNGPL has successfully laid Natural gas pipeline network in Goa covering the industrial area of Madkaim and Kundaim and is currently supplying PNG to over 10 industrial customers in the 2 industrial estates.
The Company is expanding its network to the Colvale & Usgao Industrial area. It aims to start supplying PNG to many more manufacturing units in the area by the end of 2021. 5 CNG stations are already in operation, 1 each in Old Goa, Panaji, Dhargalim, Colvale & Mangueshi and is planning 2 more CNG stations at Pernem and Colvale, respectively by the end of 2021. GNGPL has been supplying domestic PNG in Ponda, Panaji and Old Goa since April 2019. As of date, GNGPL has about 10,500 satisfied consumers. GNGPL aims to reach out to more domestic customers by extending and developing the natural gas network in North Goa and Ponda to provide an economical and benign green fuel.
Domestic PNG is supplied to households through a pipeline which provides a seamless, uninterrupted supply of cooking fuel. Moreover, this fuel works out to be much more economical and safer than the widely used LPG. CEO of GNGPL, Mr M. Z. Khan, expressed that “It is a fairly new concept in Goa, and as such we have to introduce schemes like these to promote its use. In tier 1 cities, this model has been tried, tested successfully, and is in such demand that consumers are kept on a waitlist to avail PNG to their households.”
To promote the use and benefits of this green fuel, GNGPL CEO, in a press conference, announced that Company has come up with a scheme of “Free Gas Supply for Three Months” under which Housing societies who have registered themselves will benefit by getting free gas from Nov 2021 -Jan 2022. It aims to target more domestic customers to use piped natural gas. Interested societies can register latest by 15th August 2021 to avail of the scheme. More details on the scheme are available on the Company’s website www.goanaturalgas.com. The project activities of GNGPL were affected due to the ongoing pandemic. However, the Company has now geared up and committed to reach maximum customers.
GNGPL further plans to come up with attractive schemes to promote its CNG sector for automobiles in the coming months. “CNG is one of the most environment-friendly fuels as compared to conventional fuels as it has no impurities such as sulphur or lead. With the constant hike in petrol price, CNG works out to be economically priced at Rs.59/-kg The local taxi operators shall benefit manifold with this scheme.”
