CANACONA: The Bamonbudo waterfall gets scores of visitors, causing a rush of vehicles and people alike, particularly on Saturdays and Sundays and public holidays, often resulting in a law and order situation.
Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas led the police team on Saturday, beginning police ‘band about’ on all the days of the week.
Strict police vigilance and surveillance will be kept around the Waterfall to avert any law and order situation. We also advise the visitors to follow traffic directions as lots of enmity between the visitors is happening due to rough driving, parking, of vehicles, and as also visitors are advised to restraint themselves from eve-teasing or interfering with locals, especially with women and girls and making fun of people particularly elderly residents. Visitors have been advised not to throw waste, plastics, or liquor bottles inside or around the Waterfall.
The police will take prompt action against any troublemakers in the area’, warned Canaocna PI Gawas.
It may be recalled that Bamonbudo water located right on the Gaondongrim-Netravli roadside in the Tudal area, has been visited by hundreds of picnickers who often come with food and drinks to enjoy the serene Waterfall throughout monsoon months.
Locals have been complaining of eve-teasing of their women folk while going or coming back from the paddy fields, creating lots of nuisance on the roads with free–for–all leaving behind of dumping garbage/wastes, and even forcefully giving and forcing elderly people drunk and making fun of the local populace.
The narrow road and non-availability of space to station/park vehicles also lead to fistfights and arguments amongst the visitors, informed a source.
