BICHOLIM: Stepping up its anti-drug campaign, the Goa Police’s Anti Narcotic Police Station conducted a drug abuse prevention and awareness programme for around 250 students at Government Polytechnic, Mayem, with a focus on keeping young people away from narcotics and other addictive substances.
The programme, held in two batches, covered students from the Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Engineering branches.
During the interactive session, police officials educated students about the dangers of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, alcohol, tobacco and e-cigarettes.
Officials highlighted the physical, psychological, social and legal consequences of substance abuse and urged students to resist peer pressure, make informed choices and support the Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative.
The awareness drive was organised under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Sunita Sawant and the supervision of Superintendent of Police Nerlon Albuquerque, as part of Goa Police’s sustained efforts to prevent drug abuse through education and community outreach, particularly among the youth.
