VASCO: The speedy resolution of the Lionel Lobo murder case in Cortalim by the South Goa police has been praised by Roquezinho D’Souza, a senior citizen, social worker, and former Panch of V.P. Velsao-Pale-Issorcim. Within 12 hours of the murder, the culprit was apprehended by the Verna Police Station, led by P.I. Melson Colaco.
D’Souza expressed his appreciation, stating, “I commend the efforts of South Goa SP Sunita Sawant, DySP Salim Shaikh, and P.I. Melson Colaco and his team for their outstanding work. The exceptional performance of stations like Verna, recognized as one of the best in the state, has lifted the shadows over the police hierarchy in Goa.”
He added, “We hope that P.I. Melson Colaco and his team will uphold Verna Police Station’s stellar reputation. It is crucial to have dedicated officers like him to maintain a crime-free constituency.”
D’Souza also praised Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas for his swift response to the incident. “Our MLA, Antonio Vas, promptly visited the murder site and assessed the situation, displaying his commitment to the community.”
In an appeal to the government, D’Souza urged, “We call upon our Hon’ble C.M. Dr. Pramod Sawant, who oversees the Home Department, to ensure the Verna Police Department receives adequate staff and facilities. This support is essential for them to effectively carry out their duties.”
The swift police action and community support highlight the significance of effective policing and government backing in upholding law and order.
