PORVORIM: Businessman Satish Shinde has been sent to nine days of judicial custody by the Mapusa JMFC Court following his arrest in connection with the shooting of businessman Shrinivas Naik near the Majestic Hotel in Porvorim.
The Crime Branch has identified Shinde as the seventh person arrested in the case. Investigators are now examining his alleged involvement and his possible links with those accused of carrying out the attack.
Police sources said the six suspects arrested earlier allegedly mentioned Shinde during questioning. Based on the information gathered during the investigation, officers are examining whether he had a role in bringing the alleged shooters together.
Investigators are also looking into the possibility that Shinde may have been acting at the direction of another individual. The Crime Branch is therefore widening its inquiry to determine whether the shooting was part of a broader plan.
Shinde, who is reportedly from Borivali in Mumbai, has business interests in Goa, including ventures associated with hotels and casino-related activities. Police are also examining his background and previous records as part of their investigation.
A key focus of the probe is to establish Shinde’s precise role, if any, and determine whether another person was involved in planning, directing or facilitating the attack.
The Crime Branch is additionally examining a possible business dispute as one of the lines of inquiry into the motive behind the shooting.
