PANAJI: Goa has registered 4,459 cases under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) since the new criminal laws came into effect, according to official data on the implementation of the country’s revamped criminal justice framework.
The data further shows that investigating agencies have filed 3,491 charge sheets and final reports, reflecting significant progress in processing cases under the new legal regime.
The figures relate to the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which replaced the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and Indian Evidence Act, respectively.
The statistics provide an overview of the operational impact of the new criminal laws in Goa, indicating the pace at which cases are being investigated and brought before the courts under the revised legal framework.
