CANACONA: Just on the eve of June, when the monsoon season begins, Canacona MLA and Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar reviewed the monsoon works in Canacona.
In the review meeting held on Wednesday in the hall of the office of Canaocna Deputy Collector, Tawadkar sought to know from the officers the present progress of the pre-monsoon works and the preparedness of the administration to meet any exigencies that could arise during monsoons.
Tawadkar categorically told the administration that the emergency workers should not be lazy, besides asking the panchas and responsible citizens to inform the Panchayat Secretary, Sarpanch and get the drains, particularly flood-gate drains, cleaned and functional in their respective Panchayat areas.
A Chaudi resident Shankar Naik informed that the municipal workers engaged by Canacona municipality need to be duly paid and get proper allowances for the tough jobs/works they are doing during emergencies in the rainy season. CMC Chier Officer Madhu Narvekar, Reacting to the complaint, informed that necessary and due allowances will be provided in time.
During the meeting, CMC Chairperson Ramakant Naik Gaonkar, Canaocna Dy Collector Ramesh Gaonkar, Mamlatdar Manoj Korgaonkar, CMC Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar, Group Development Officer Ashok Naik were present.
Also present were Poinguinim dy. Sarpanch Sunil Paingankar, Councillors Hemant Kumar Naikgaonkar, Narcisco Fernandes, Simon Rebelo, bjp Mandal President Vishal Desai and others presented various suggestions to tackle the monsoon fury.
Canaocna Police Inspector Chandrakant Gawas, PWD (Water Supply) Alister D’Souza, Agriculture Officer Sarvanand Sarvannkar Office, PWD (Roads) Dilip Kerkar, Fire Officer Ravindra Pednekar, Sarpanchas of various Panchayats, Panchs and others also attended the meeting.
