Panaji: Goa suffered their third consecutive defeat in the Women’s Under 19 T20 Trophy Elite after losing to Jharkhand by nine wickets in a Group D encounter at Alur Cricket Stadium 4 on Monday.
After winning the toss and opting to bowl, Jharkhand produced a disciplined bowling performance to dismiss Goa for 94 in 18.5 overs. The Jharkhand batters then chased down the target comfortably, reaching 100 for one in just 11.2 overs to seal a convincing victory.
Rakshanda Kalangutkar was Goa’s leading scorer with 25 runs, while Usma Khan contributed 15 and Muskan Sab added 12. Pooja Kalel scored 11 as Goa struggled to build substantial partnerships against a determined Jharkhand attack.
Isha and Kumari Palak led Jharkhand’s bowling effort, claiming three wickets each to restrict Goa to a modest total. Prachi Pradhan also made an important contribution with two wickets.
Chasing 95 for victory, Jharkhand made a commanding start, with Gurleen Kaur leading the charge through an aggressive unbeaten 48 off just 23 deliveries. Her innings featured four fours and six sixes, putting the chase firmly under control.
Captain Priyanka Luthra remained unbeaten on 27, while Aanya Verma contributed 23 as Jharkhand reached the target with 52 balls to spare. Pooja Kalel claimed Goa’s only wicket, but the visitors could not prevent Jharkhand from completing the comfortable win.
The defeat extends Goa’s losing streak in the tournament, increasing the pressure on the team to produce a stronger performance in their upcoming fixture.
Goa will next face Odisha on October 14 and will aim to return to winning ways and revive their campaign in the Women’s Under 19 T20 Trophy Elite.
