New Delhi: Gill won the men’s award for a record fifth time after scoring 110 and 223 in the ODI series against the West Indies. His double-century helped India chase down a massive target of 406 runs.
Shafali earned the women’s honour after scoring 360 runs at a strike rate of 184.61 and taking six wickets during the Women’s Asia Cup. She also scored an unbeaten century against Bangladesh in the Asian Games semifinal and 48 in the final against Sri Lanka.
With this achievement, Gill equals West Indies captain Hayley Matthews, who has also won the award five times. It is the fifth occasion that players from the same national board have swept both monthly honours.
