PANAJI: The Goa Government has revised the distance-based fares for yellow-black taxis and contract carriages operating in the state, with the new rates coming into force from the date of publication of the notification in the Official Gazette.
Under the revised tariff, yellow-black hatchback taxis in the 998cc to 1199cc category will charge Rs. 300 for the first 3 km, Rs. 430 for 3.1 to 8 km and Rs. 26 for every subsequent kilometre. The same first two slab rates apply to 1200cc to 1499cc hatchbacks and sedans, with a subsequent-kilometre charge of Rs. 26.
For regular SUVs in the 1500cc to 2499cc category, the revised fare is Rs. 400 for the first 3 km, Rs. 560 for 3.1 to 8 km and Rs. 32 per subsequent kilometre. Premium SUVs and MPVs will attract Rs. 500, Rs. 660 and Rs. 32 respectively across the same distance slabs.
The revised tariff also provides for a 35 per cent surcharge on the normal fare for journeys between 11 pm and 5 am. Waiting charges have been fixed at Rs. 50 per hour, or Rs. 4 for every 10 minutes.
Separately, the State Transport Authority has revised fares for tourist taxis, motor cabs and maxi cabs. For 998cc to 1199cc hatchbacks, the tariff is Rs. 300 for 0-3 km, Rs. 445 for 3.1-8 km and Rs. 29 per subsequent kilometre. Premium cabs with engine capacities of 2500cc and above will have rates of Rs. 1,000, Rs. 1,745 and Rs. 149 respectively across the three slabs.
The notifications supersede the corresponding fare notifications issued in August 2021. Taxi permit holders have been directed to display the applicable fares prominently in their vehicles.
