PANAJI: The state cabinet approved the establishment of a sustainable transportation system, for which the government will get Rs 700 crore from the IIT Alumni Council as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. With the money, the government will buy 500 e-buses.
In a press conference following the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the Goa government will get Rs 700 crore from the IIT Alumni council thanks to a move taken by Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, IAS.
“The Goel alumni batchmates who are employed overseas will provide the Goa government Rs 700 crore as part of a CSR project. In order to improve public transportation, we will set up a system and provide this money to the Kadamba Transport Corporation to buy e-buses,” he declared.
According to Sawant, the money will go toward running and maintaining the e-buses that KTC plans to buy.
A plan to assign legal and junior legal officers to contracts in the Directorate of Mines and Geology was also approved by the cabinet. These personnel will handle the department’s legal cases.
According to Sawant, the government has chosen to relaunch the mining engineering degree program starting this year. About twenty students contacted us regarding a mining degree course.
Any stream’s diploma holders are eligible to apply for a mining engineering degree program. They can get in touch with the mines department’s engineering division,” he stated.
