BAMBOLIM: One person was killed and two others sustained injuries after a vehicle caught fire following a self-accident near the Holy Cross Shrine (Fulancho Khuris) on the road to Siridao in the early hours of Saturday.
According to the Goa Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), Panaji Fire Station received a distress call at 4:01 am and immediately dispatched a team to the accident site.
Fire personnel brought the blaze under control and assisted the injured before further emergency response was carried out. One occupant succumbed in the incident, while two others suffered injuries.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the vehicle catching fire.
