PANAJI: The Department of Tourism, is set to participate in ITB Asia 2024 (Stall No. M51), taking place from 23rd to 25th October at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. This prestigious event, known as Asia’s leading travel trade show, will gather global travel industry leaders, providing Goa Tourism with a strategic opportunity to present the state’s unique tourism experiences to an international audience.
At ITB Asia, Goa Tourism will showcase its rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and innovative tourism experiences, with a special emphasis on sustainable and regenerative tourism practices. Visitors to the Goa Tourism pavilion will have the opportunity to explore a wide array of attractions, from the vibrant festivals and cultural richness of Goa to its adventure activities and pristine beaches.
The highlight of Goa’s participation at ITB Asia will be its dedication to Regenerative Tourism—a progressive approach that goes beyond sustainability to actively restore and enhance natural and cultural resources. The pavilion will feature key initiatives, including hinterland tourism, heritage conservation, wellness tourism with a focus on Ayurveda, as well as promoting Goa as a prime destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) and weddings. These efforts are designed to support local communities and protect the environment while creating memorable experiences for visitors.
The pavilion will also highlight Goa’s Ekadasha Teertha Circuit, a spiritual journey through 11 historic temples. The much-anticipated Exposition of St. Francis Xavier, is scheduled to take place from 21st November 2024 to 5th January 2025 at the renowned Basilica of Bom Jesus will also be highlighted at the pavilion. Interactive displays will demonstrate Goa’s commitment to responsible tourism, aiming to preserve its cultural legacy while encouraging visitors to travel conscientiously.
Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director Tourism and Managing Director GTDC, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “ITB Asia 2024 offers an valuable platform for Goa to position itself as a global tourism destination. Our focus on Regenerative Tourism highlights our initiatives to not just sustain but actively rejuvenate our natural and cultural assets. We look forward to welcoming visitors to explore Goa’s unique offerings and understand how responsible tourism can make a significant impact.” He further added, “The presence of Goan hoteliers, travel operators, and industry partners at ITB Asia will ensure that visitors gain access to the best of Goa’s tourism services, including exclusive deals on hotels in Goa. Our current focus is on promoting Goa to Asian regional countries with this participation as our goal is to inspire international travelers to experience Goa’s diverse beauty while supporting the state’s environmental and socio-economic well-being.”
