CANACONA: A 42-year-old man from Dakshin Kannada was found dead in a rented room at Polem in Canacona on Thursday.
According to Canacona Police, Prakash Gowda (42), a native of Bantwal in Dakshin Kannada district of Karnataka, was found dead inside a rented room belonging to a Polem resident. The room was locked from the inside.
Police, with the assistance of Fire and Emergency Services personnel, had to break open the door to recover the body.
Police said the man had reportedly been suffering from depression for the past few days, though the exact reasons are not known.
After conducting the scene of occurrence and completing the inquest panchanama, the body was sent to the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, for medico-legal formalities and post-mortem examination.
Canacona Police have registered an Unnatural Death case under Section 194 of the BNSS. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Babu Dessai of Canacona Police Station.
