Balram Residential High School (BRHS) (Amone) teacher assaults 6th STD student for not cooperating in Swatchta Drive held on Monday
Canacona police registers FIR against the Teacher u/s 324(Assault) and Goa Children’s Act.

CANACONA: A 13-year old VIth Student of Shree Balram Residential High School, Amone (Poinguinim) is assaulted by the school Teacher for not cooperating/participating during the school organised Cleanliness Drive in the school vicinity on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Monday.

The teacher is learnt to have hit the boy with a Mop (used to clean floors) at about1.30 pm, to discipline/reprimand the boy, when the concerned Teacher (supervising the activity) got angry when he came to know that the boy who did not participated in the cleanliness and instead hide himself and came out only after the Cleaning activity was over asking if he has any activity t oaake part, sources informed.
The 13-year old (Rupesh Ratnakar Gaonkar) studying in class 6th reportedly got traumatized with the Mob hits on his hands, legs and head.
As the boy was staying in Hostel of the Residential School, by evening time the boy reportedly complained of uneasiness and expressded his desire to go to home. When the school authorities took the boy to his home at Bupar Gaondongrim, the boy reportedly conveyed to his parents that he is getting pains all over his body, and responding to the parents persistent quieries, informed that a teacher has beaten him with a Mob in the school at afternoon time. The parent than took their son to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Chaudi where the young boy was treated with first aid, and when CHC doctor advised to take the student home, but wit the boy continuing to report pains, parents insisted to shift him to SGDH and admitted in the night (Monday ) for further treatment.
The boy reportedly has some bruises on his legs, hands and the boy complains of pain at tw different spots on his head and continues to recover at the South Goa District Hospital, Margao. The boy is a resident of Bupar in Gaondongrim village and one of the hosteler of the Balram Residential School.
Meanwhile, Canacona Police have registered a FIR against the Teacher Prasad Pagi of Shre Balram Residential high School, Amone(Poinguinim) under section 324 of IPC and relevant sections are also applied under Goa Children’s Act and investigating the case.
Stating the boy has simple injuries, Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas informed the FIR is registered on Tuesday after receipt of a complaint from the boy’s parents and police are investigating into the case. A Police team did not found the Teacher Prasad Pagi when approached at his residence on Tuesaday as part of investigation.
It may be interesting to note that Shree Balram Residential High School is one of the 7 different Schools run by Balram Education Soceity headed by Founder Chairman Ramesh Tawadkar (Canacona MLA and GLA Speaker). Tawadkar’s wife Savita Tawadkar who is also Sarpanch of Village Panchayat of Poinguinim is the Headmistress of Shree Balram Residential High School. Incidentally, Savita accompanied her husband and Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar to Ghana Africa on 1st of October to attend ‘the 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) and won’t be available in Goa until 17th of this month, sources.
Several media persons as well as some politicians reportedly approached the 13 year boy from Bhupar-Gaondongrim admitted and recuperating in the SGDH ward, where the boy or his mother reportedly refused to speak or say anything to media. However, social worker Pratima Coutinho met the boy in the presence of his mother and spoke to the boy who reportedly narrated as to his beatings by the teacher.
