MARGAO:;The Goa government has stepped up preparations for the upcoming Chieftains’ Uprising Commemoration Day, with officials finalising arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the state event.
A coordination meeting chaired by Additional Collector-II, South Goa and H/C Kushavati Districts, Ramesh Gaonkar, reviewed the responsibilities of various departments involved in organising the programme.
The Department of Information and Publicity will oversee invitations, publicity and stage management, while the Police Department has been entrusted with providing the Guard of Honour and Police Band. The Directorate of Education will coordinate the participation of school students.
The Public Works Department has been directed to complete repainting, erect a waterproof shamiana and carry out other infrastructure works. The Joint Secretary (Protocol) will handle protocol arrangements, including floral tributes, while the Cuncolim Municipal Council will beautify the Chieftains’ Memorial and arrange refreshments for students.
Officials were instructed to complete all assigned works well in advance to ensure the successful and seamless observance of the Chieftains’ Uprising Commemoration Day.
