Mapusa: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Sunday said that the government is focusing on human development as well as infrastructure development”.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant was attending a eye check up camp ‘Vision to all ’ which was organized as part of 60th liberation day at Mapusa.
As part of 60th year liberation day, Directorate of Health service in association with Prasad Netralaya, Udupi and Colorcon Asia private limited had organized an eye check up and surgery camp at Mapusa wherein local got their eyes checked up and were provided free medicine, spectacles and also free surgery by state government.
The camp was inaugurated at the hands of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in presence of Mapusa MLA Joshua D’souza, Dr Jose Desa, Dr Rajesh Parab, Rupesh Kamat and Dr Dhanjanya and others.
Addressing the gathering Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said, ”The government is concerned about every Goan as Goa has 45 percent blindness in the state. Through these camps we want to rectify vision related errors as following Covid, people are scared to get treated at GMC hence minor cataract must have now matured so these camps can be used to get treated”, said Sawant.
“Initially these camps will be held in municipal areas and later similar camps will be held in rurals areas of the state. Besides this we will be also organizing ‘Health for all’ camp wherein people can get their health check up done for other ailments also like Blood pressure, sugar, heart ailments and others as we want to have human development”, CM said.
“In next two months a new Ophthalmology clinic at Sanquelim Health centre will be opened up where laser surgery can be done which is also available in Goa medical college”, he said.
