PANAJI: Minister for Labour and Employment Atanasio Monseratte informed the House that the State government cannot interfere in the process of recruitment at Goa Shipyard.
Replying to question tabled by MLA Sankalp Amonkar, Monseratte said there is no understanding with Goa Shipyard Limited with regards to its recruitment by the State Labour Department, as Goa Shipyard Limited falls under the sphere of the Central Government.
“State Labour Department cannot intervene in the process of recruitment as Goa Shipyard Limited falls under the ambit of the Central Government and the Regional Labour Commissioner (Central) having its office at Vasco, is the appropriate authority,” he said.
He further said the Goa Employment Exchange only maintains placement records based on the information submitted by the employers against notified vacancies. “Since April 2022 till date, no placement details have been submitted by the Goa Shipyard Limited against notified vacancies,” he said.
