PONDA: Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar today said that a 1 Megawatt Solar power plant will be installed at the premises of Goa Engineering College (GEC), Farmagudi. He said the department is planning underground cabling in the next five-year period at an estimated cost of Rs 5000 crore, along with a new cabling power station at Verna, Sakhwal and Ponda.
He said the Karnataka power supply from the Tamnar Power plant will be supplied from existing lines as per the guideline of SC.
He was speaking to the media at the sideline of a programme organized at GEC to celebrate World Book Day.
On occasion, 20 GEC students who were declared winners in the essay competition were awarded certificates, and they will be given prizes with a prestigious book named “Maverick Effect” based on India’s IT revolution written by Harish Mehta an expert in the technical field.
He said to provide better services to people at the time of monsoon and immediately restore the power supply, all the necessary equipment needed for linemen, including cutters, safety belts, and boots.
On the occasion present, guest present for the function All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) President Dr Anil Saharsrabudhe, Director of Technical Education Vivek Kamat,
GEC Principal Rajesh Lohani and dignitaries were present.
