PANAJI: Ahead of festive season, the state government has permitted use of loud speakers till 12 am on Christmas Eve, Christmas day and new year eve as against its earlier relaxation till 6 am.
The government has exempted Easter day and new year day from the loud speaker relaxation category.
A corrigendum in this regard has been issued by the Environment Director Dasharath Redkar.
The move the comes following the High Court order not to allow loud music outdoors after 10 PM.
On November 30, the High Court had directed the GSPCB, Sub Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to ensure that no loud music is played beyond 10 pm at the parties held across the State.
Meanwhile, the Goa Police have submitted an Action Taken Report wherein violators of time restriction for playing music were booked and their equipments seized.
