PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured that Sanjivani Sugar Factory would not be closed down.
“I assure that Sanjivani Sugar Factory would not be closed down. Government will engage private player to run the Sanjivani Sahakari Sakar Karkhana Ltd at Dharbandora,” said Sawant
Sawant told the farmers’ delegation that no private entity would be allowed to set up an ethanol plant in the factory premises.
He even assured government support to farmers if they take up the responsibility to run the facility.
Sawant said that by September-end infrastructure for the National Games will be ready. He said that the date for the inaugural function of the National Games has not been finalised, but tentatively the inauguration will be held on October 25 or 26.
Sawant said that the Goa Staff Selection Commission will start recruiting government employees from October.
He supported the `one nation, one election’ proposal, claiming that it will save a lot of time and manpower.
Due to frequent elections, a lot of money is also spent on the election machinery, he told reporters here.
The Union government has constituted a committee headed by former president Ram Nath Kovind to explore the feasibility of `one nation, one election’ system, opening the possibility of early Lok Sabha polls.
