PORVORIM: Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar informed the House that a Rs 41 cr project is being planned for flood control at Guirim in Bardez taluka.
Shirodkar was replying to a question raised by Saligao MLA Kedar Naik, who wanted to know what steps the government is taking to avoid such floodings.
Naik pointed out that due to flooding people are facing heavy damages and also losing livelihood.
Shirodkar in his reply said, “estimate for flood control and improvement of waterway of Tar/Moira river from Guirim to NH bridge at tar junction Mapusa in Bardez Taluka amounting to Rs. 41,94,90,000/-.”
He said the file is being processed for Administrative Approval and other approvals like Expenditure Finance Committee etc, after which it will be taken up for tendering.
“There is a provision for the construction of a wall protecting the banks of the river at vulnerable stretches for a length of about 1200 mts. The estimate is processed for Administrative Approval. After completing tendering process, a work order will be issued,” he said.
He said the Department has received a proposal from MLA of Saligao Constituency for taking up work on 24/05/23.
“The estimate for the work is prepared & being processed for Administrative Approval and other approvals like Expenditure Finance Committee, after which it will be taken up for tendering,” he said.
