PANAJI: To ensure that the entire site is covered, the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has mandated that all stone crushing units install CCTV cameras.
The State Pollution Authority has issued strict directives to reduce noise pollution and air pollution caused by stone crushing units, adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Under the Air and Water Act, the stone crushing units must apply for permission to establish as well as permission to operate.
According to the guidelines, the stone crusher unit should only be used during the day, which is from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, to prevent disturbing the neighbors with background noise.
The installation of an online or manual air monitoring system in the crushing zone area is the responsibility of the unit operators. In order to reduce air pollution, the material transporting vehicle must make sure that it is fully covered, and roads should be regularly wetted to suppress dust.
In accordance with the lease plan that the State government has approved, a green belt must also be developed. The unit operator is required by the GSPCB to conduct a health survey of the employees every six months.
