The Governor of Goa, Satya Pal Malik has said Moringa Oleifera which is also known as Drumstick tree is a medicinal plant with rich source of Calcium. This plant he said, controls blood Pressure, Improves immunity, being Anti Oxidant, Anti Inflammatory, enhances skin health and reduces Cholesterol etc.
The Governor was speaking after planting a sampling of Drumstick Tree (Moringa Oleifera) at Aushadhi Vatika near main gate at Raj Bhavan to mark the celebration of Vana Mahotsav 2020 jointly organized by Raj Bhavan, Goa and Forest Department, Goa today.
Speaking further Malik said, in the Vedas the importance of plants has also been highlighted which provides us oxygen. We have to take proper care of plants and nurture them till they are grown into a big tree.
Chief Secretary Parimal Rai IAS also planted a sampling of drumstick at Aushadhi Vatika.
Secretary to Governor Rupesh Kumar Thakur (IAS) , Chief Conservator of Forests Keshav Kumar (IFS) were present on the occasion.
Subhash Chandra, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests welcomed the guests.
Amar Heblekar, Assistant Conservator of Forests compered and also proposed the vote of thanks.
