Panaji: CQS Scoring Willows and Rangers registered a win in the Goa GSB Unity Cup T20 cricket tournament on Friday. The tournament is being organised by Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust in association with Goa Saraswat Samaj. CQS Scoring Willows defeated Antruj Rising Stars by 6 wickets and 49 balls at SK Ground Malcornem. Rangers defeated Mapusa Dream Crushers by 30 runs. It was the Rangers’ third straight win in the tournament.
Antruz Rising Stars had to settle for just 133 despite 73 runs for the third wicket by Pratosh Pilgaonkar and Nikhil Kamat. Sarvesh Prabhugaonkar of CQS was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets. However, Balkrishna Hodarkar took 1 wicket for just 11 runs in 4 overs to rein in the run rate. He then won the Man of the Match award for his unbeaten 26 off 20 balls. For CQS, opener Deval Karmali thrashed Antruz bowlers. He scored 35 runs off just 12 balls with 8 fours. Varun Kudchadkar also scored 37 runs off 20 balls to win the team in 11.5 overs.
The performance of the middle-order batsmen, including Goa Ranji player Samar Dubashi (40), helped Rangers post 191/8 in 20 overs. Samar and Sarin Pai Kane added 59 runs for the third wicket and Laxmikant Kurade and Yash Prabhugaonkar added 56 runs for the sixth wicket. Chasing a mammoth total, Mapusa Dream Crushers were 94 for 8. Rajaram Kundaikar (34 not out) added 54 runs for the ninth wicket with Sanjay Netravalkar (26) to reduce the team’s defeat margin. Mapusa Dream Crushers scored 161 for 9. Anish Prabhudesai was adjudged man of the match for his impressive bowling.
