MARGAO: The first Janta Darbar was held today at Mathany Saldanha Margao, wherein the Revenue Minister, Atanasio Monserrate heard the grievances of the people.
Addressing the gathering, Revenue Minister said that every Month one MLA will be addressing the grievances of the public in Janta Darbar.
“Janta Darbar is a unique initiative taken by our Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant to resolve the issues of people infront of the concerned Department and authorities. It is the need of the hour that the Mamlatdar, Deputy Collector and Collector give a human touch as far as the grievances of the public are concerned,” said Monserrate
He further said that the public should be provided hassle free services and should not be made to run around the departments”, he added.
He further stated that the officers should guide the people to resolve their grievances and should not delay due to the absence of any official. The first Janta Darbar witnessed people in large number with their grievances and the Revenue Minister ensured people that their issues will be resolved with immediate effect.
Monserrate also added that the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) had recently cleared the hiring of over dozen mamlatdars which would also help lessen the present load at the Revenue department.
Amongst other issues raised was the sub-registrar delaying registering building societies where Monserrate said there is a uniform payment and process structure for shops and houses in these societies and that instructions will be issued to the sub-registrar to follow government policy.
Those present on the occasion included Margao MLA, Digambar Kamat; Curtorim MLA, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco; Velim MLA, Cruz Silva; Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas; South Goa Collector, Asvin Chandru and other government officials.
