PANAJI: In a major set back to the Goa government, the Bombay High Court at Goa has dismissed State’s plea seeking lifting of all inter-state restrictions imposed in view of surge in COVID-19 cases.
The State government has moved an application praying to modify the High Court order passed on May 6, to the extent of removing the restrictions placed upon the entry of persons into the State sans COVID negative certificate.
The Court had directed the State to make COVID negative certificate mandatory for entering Goa from May 10 onwards. Accordingly, Government had imposed restriction on inter-state travel for all including Goans and those entering State on daily basis for work purpose.
Adv Nikhil Pai said that Court has dismissed the application while granting liberty to State for putting up fresh application in future as and when need arises.
” But at the movement, the HC has the view that there should be restrictions,” Pai said.
The matter is now adjourned for Monday
