The Bombay High court at Goa today issued notices to the State District Administrations on functioning of Tree Authority in North and South Goa.
The Court was hearing a PIL filed by the Living Heritage Foundation with regards to felling of trees for the Mollem infrastructure projects.
In the press statement issued, the petitioner claimed that The district authorities have to file an affidavit before April 28 stating the status report and furnish statistics of the pending tree felling applications before them.
The state of Goa through advocate general has to answer whether the tree authority is functional at all, the petitioner said.
“Is it functioning or not functioning? Is it functioning at all?” a division bench of justice M S Sonal and justice M S Jawalkar asked, the petitioners said quoting the division bench.
