Margao: The order of the Hon’ble High Court quashing the Notification on Reservations of Wards in Municipal Elections has proved that the BJP Government headed by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant is Defective charged President of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Girish Chodankar.
The order of the High Court will definitely restore the Faith of People in Judiciary and this Order.
GPCC President Girish Chodankar on Monday morning addressed a press conference in the Congress office at Margao and expressed happiness that all the manipulations done by BJP government to reserve wards benefiting their select candidates stands exposed.
Congress leader has demanded that Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Urban Development Minister Milind Naik should immediately resign for manipulating reservation of wards in violation of constitutional provisions.
He said CM has no moral right to continue in his chair even for a minute.
In his second demand he also said that the Director of Municipal Administration needs to be placed under suspension and thorough enquiry should be conducted in the manipulations noticed in the reservations of wards.
Today, the Person holding the post of State Election Commissioner is a government servant and he works on the behest of the government. He should leave the post immediately and the government should appoint a new Commissioner following guideines and rules Girish Chodankar demanded.
Chodankar said that the SEC has constitutional authority and can reject wrong doings of the government. But by accepting manipulated reservations of wards he has become part of the crime.
He also said that the High Court had given enough time to revise the reservation, but BJP didn’t do it fearing defeat.
Government should not challenge this order in the Supreme Court at the cost of taxpayers money. Now it should hold an election only after appointing a new SEC.” Chodankar said repling to a question.
Now, at least BJP should learn that they are not above judiciary and constitution. This is just a beginning of their crimes and illegalities getting exposed in public domain. In future, they will get fully exposed about how they misused power for vested interest and worked against the wishes of Goans.” Chodankar said.
