PANAJI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Goa launched a massive operation on the smuggling of drugs from Himachal to Goa, seizing a batch of charas valued at Rs 9 lakh and arresting two locals of Kerala.
According to NCB Additional Director Amit Ghawate, when NCB officers, working with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), stopped a carrier at the Tivim railway station who was identified as T. KT, a native of Kerala.
The man was apprehended with 883.64 grams of charas, which are valued at almost Rs 9 lakh.
The accused was found to be employed by a drug trafficking network run by a group of Keralites in North Goa during the first round of interrogation. According to Ghawate, this network frequently purchases charas from the Himachal Pradesh Kullu district.
The primary handler, I. B., a Kerala native living in Querim, was subsequently apprehended by NCB agents without delay that same day.
“We aim to bust the entire supply chain of charas and to identify and apprehend other active members of this drug network,” the top officer declared.
