PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has attacked leaders of the opposition I.N.D.I.A coalition, alleging that they seek to eliminate the Sanatan faith, which has defied previous attempts to do so by Mughal emperors, the British, and the Portuguese.
“Babar and other Mughal emperors, as well as the British and Portuguese, who arrived to Goa with the intention of forcing conversion, had unsuccessfully attempted to eradicate the Sanatan Hindu religion. The INDIA alliance’s partners are currently making the same effort,” said Sawant.
Sawant’s comments came amid a political controversy after DMK lawmakers, including former Union minister A Raja and Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, asked for the abolition of Sanatan Dharma because they believe it encourages prejudice and division among people.
The Chief Minister added that it would be appropriate if adherents of the Sanatan Hindu faith expelled INDIA alliance allies.
The INDIA bloc’s leaders, according to Sawant, are allegedly continually disparaging Sanatan Dharma, thus it would be appropriate if people drove these parties out.
Even though the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) has changed its name to the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), he claimed that the public are aware of the true nature of these parties and that their policies and activities have not altered.
Sawant also made fun of Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), for saying that while many people from all over the nation are anticipated to attend the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, a Godhra-like incident might happen on the way back.
I’m not sure why Thackeray is concerned about the Ram Temple’s dedication ceremony. Sawant continued, “You (the media) ought to question him about this.”
