OLD GOA: Old Goa Police have registered a case against accused persons found illegally transporting sand without valid permits near the Old Goa Jetty. The incident was reported on June 10, 2025, following a complaint filed by LPSI Jasvita Naik.
According to the complaint, on May 3, 2025, at approximately 5:22 a.m., an Eicher truck bearing registration number GA-01-Z/1413 was stopped near the Old Goa Jetty. The accused failed to provide any valid authorization for carrying the sand.
The case has been registered under sections 303(2) and 3(5) of the BNS Act 2023, along with section 62(2) of the Goa, Daman and Diu Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 1985. The police are investigating the matter, treating it as illegal transportation of minor minerals and theft.
Authorities have reiterated the importance of strict adherence to mineral transportation regulations to curb illegal activities in the region.
