BAMBOLIM: IMA Goa State strongly condemns brutal act of multiple stabbing assault on Dr Balaji a medical oncologist and Govt doctor on duty at Chennai.
“This has become a regular and recurring phenomena in healthcare sector across India ,clearly exposing the failure on part of the Govt to take care of safety and security issues threatening the very existence of this so called noble profession,” said Dr Sandesh Chodankar, IMA Goa President
He further said that this incidence has happened inspite of community awareness,token strikes ,rallies,candle march sensitisation of stake holders at Govt.level conducted post West Bengal KAR Medical college disaster.
“This act of National shame by patients and their attendants seems to be unstoppable at this point of time ,clearly exposing the failure of system which should have put the offenders of such disgraceful acts in place by now This never ending story has to end one fine day,” he added
Dr Chodankar said that IMA has been demanding strong ,stringent central law for violence against the doctors at pan India level with fast tracking of such cases ,with extraordinary and exemplary punishment to the culprits.
“Hope the Govt take a note of this sensitive issue and come out with a deterrant legislation so that doctors in India practice with committment and without fear.IMA Goa State stand strongly in solidarity with IMA Tamil Nadu in their fight for justice for Dr Balaji,” Dr Sandesh added
