PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Vice President Sunil Kawthankar today has written to SP North Goa demanding immediate action on those responsible for the death of the Assistant Lineman of the Bicholim Electricity department on duty.
The accident occurred due to a sudden power surge, while he was working, even as it is claimed that the power supply to the high-tension line was switched off.
“I believe that you are aware that a young Assistant Lineman lost his life after being electrocuted at Bicholim recently. It is learned that the Bicholim Police have registered an unnatural death and no one is named in the F.I.R to date,” said Kawthankar
He further questioned why no FIR was filed stating that it is this so because the innocent life lost is of an ordinary common man? And not of any V.I.P or relative of V.I.P?
“The phenomenon of linemen losing life is becoming a routine and is highly unacceptable to us,” he added
Congress has requested the SP to direct the P. I Bicholim to book the responsible officials or any individuals responsible immediately and initiate necessary action as prescribed under law.
“An exemplary action will prevent further loss of innocent lives of line helpers who risk their lives to provide us all uninterrupted,” he said.
