New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India has emerged as a global bright spot for growth, driven by political stability, policy continuity and a strong commitment to reforms across every sector of the economy.
Speaking at the Economic Times World Leaders Forum, the Prime Minister said that while many nations are grappling with slowing growth and the weaponisation of resources, the world increasingly views India as a source of hope and sustained economic expansion.
Modi said the government has a clear roadmap focused on governance, ease of living and next generation policy reforms. He stressed that India is not merely changing regulations but transforming the entire regulatory framework to encourage innovation, investment and entrepreneurship.
According to the Prime Minister, the government is shifting from a restrictive “prohibited unless permitted” system to a more enabling “permitted unless prohibited” approach. He said this change is designed to reduce unnecessary barriers and create a more business friendly environment.
Highlighting the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, Modi said the current model rewards higher production and job creation, unlike what he described as the licence raj of previous governments, which contributed to scarcity and unemployment. He added that the incentive based framework is generating new manufacturing opportunities across industries.
The Prime Minister also pointed to reforms in railways, metro networks and the Namo Rapid Rail as examples of India’s rapidly modernising infrastructure. He said the government has transformed its approach to border development, treating border infrastructure as a national strength rather than a weakness.
Emphasising India’s digital progress, Modi said the country offers the world’s cheapest mobile data while also producing affordable, high quality smartphones, reinforcing its position as a leading destination for technology driven growth and innovation.
