New Delhi: The Centre has rolled out a comprehensive 23-point action plan to accelerate the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, outlining reforms across education, sports, technology, agriculture, manufacturing and governance.
The action plan emerged from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Union government secretaries on July 22 and was circulated through a July 29 note issued by Cabinet Secretary T.V. Somanathan. Ministries have been directed to begin implementing the identified priorities.
A key theme of the roadmap is that Viksit Bharat 2047 should become a people’s movement, with the government seeking to inspire citizens, particularly young people, to actively participate in nation building through universities, colleges and the My Bharat platform.
The plan identifies children currently aged 5 to 10 as India’s potential athletes for the 2036 Olympics and calls for a whole of government approach to promote sports culture in schools, colleges and workplaces. It also proposes developing sports tourism through collaboration between the Sports and Tourism ministries.
On education, the Centre aims to integrate skill based learning into school curricula, modernise ITI syllabi and create stronger employment pathways for vocational students. Senior citizens are expected to serve as mentors, while engineering students may volunteer to share technical expertise with ITI trainees.
The roadmap encourages government departments to adopt indigenous digital and AI platforms, including Zoho, Sarvam and Arattai, to enhance data security and reduce dependence on foreign technologies.
Agricultural universities will be encouraged to redesign courses based on regional farming needs, while students may participate in initiatives such as solar panel installation on farmland to generate additional income for farmers.
The industrial agenda focuses on strengthening domestic manufacturing of heavy machinery, improving construction capabilities and enhancing collaboration between universities and industry. It also emphasises deregulation, continuous upskilling of government officers and stronger coordination among ministries for faster policy implementation.
The Centre says the long term objective is to build a developed India by 2047 through sustained reforms driven jointly by government, industry and citizens.
