New Delhi: In a major escalation along the western frontier, the Indian Armed Forces successfully repelled multiple attacks launched by Pakistan late Thursday night, including drone strikes and missile attempts targeting key cities and military installations. Pakistani troops also violated the ceasefire multiple times along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian Army confirmed that all attempts were thwarted and responded to with a “befitting reply.” The Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stating that any hostile action would be met with decisive force.
According to the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, Pakistan attempted to target military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, as well as civilian areas along the International Border. These attacks included the launch of at least eight missiles directed at Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia in Jammu and Kashmir. All missiles were intercepted by Indian air defense systems, preventing any casualties.
Defence sources compared the attack strategy to tactics used by the terror group Hamas, suggesting that the Pakistan Army is adopting similar methods in its aggression.
The Defence Ministry dismissed rumors of suicide attacks at Pathankot or Rajouri, clarifying that no such incidents had taken place. Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a major infiltration attempt in the Samba district, further highlighting Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to destabilize the region.
In light of the heightened threat level, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held consultations with the Director Generals of the BSF and the CISF to review border security and aviation safety protocols across the country.
In a special joint press briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized that India’s recent military actions were strictly targeted at terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan. He asserted that India has no intent to escalate further, noting that the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 people, was the true provocation for India’s response.
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi revealed that Indian forces had neutralized several Pakistani air defense radars, including a major system in Lahore. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh reiterated India’s stance on de-escalation, stating that peaceful resolution is contingent on Pakistan ceasing its provocations.
