VERNA: Verna Police have busted an illegal IPL betting operation in Sancoale and arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in accepting bets during a live cricket match.
Acting on a state complaint filed by PSI Prisly Carvalho, police conducted a raid between late night of April 11 and early hours of April 12 at a house in Sancoale. The accused — Amar Dawda from Chhattisgarh, and Pranjal Tiwari, Shashank Kumar Sahu, and Sandeep Singh from Uttar Pradesh — were caught red-handed while operating the betting setup during a match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals.
During the raid, police seized gambling-related items including 10 mobile phones, two laptops, a tablet, an internet router with signal receiver, and cash amounting to Rs 37,000. The total value of the seized items is estimated at around Rs 2.5 lakh.
All four accused have been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
