But TMC, all of a sudden, comes from nowhere and promises Rs 5000 monthly Griha Aadhar allowance to every woman a Rs 20,00,000 credit card for every youth between 18-45 to start their own business.
Is this some kind of a joke? From where this money will come from Ms Mamata Banerjee and Mr Prashant Kishor? Do you think Goans are so dumb not to understand your lies?
Didi and PK have forgotten that Goa is one of the states with the highest literacy, and such promises will only be taken with a pinch of salt.
Before making such promises, you should have done some study about Goa’s economy. We are a state with Rs 26,000 crore debt. The mining operations on which our economy was dependent has stopped since 2012, the Tourism is at an all-time low. So, where will the money come from?

The Supreme Court sought responses from the Union government and the Election Commission of India (ECI) on the continued ‘tamasha’ of political parties promising or distributing ‘irrational freebies’ using public funds.
This is one of the significant issues which needs to be dealt with seriously in every poll-bound State.
The issue is more relevant in Goa as the Trinamool Congress, a latecomer in Goa’s political scenario ahead of 2022 polls, is one such party that has been making “illogical promises” promises left, right and centre.
While many other parties like Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have made promises of free power and electricity, pilgrimage and unemployment allowance etc., most of them have been implemented by the party in New Delhi, where it is in power.
But TMC, all of a sudden, comes from nowhere and promises Rs 5000 monthly Griha Aadhar allowance to every woman a Rs 20,00,000 credit card for every youth between 18-45 to start their own business.

The State of Goa is already spending over Rs 1000 crore on social security schemes for which it has been taking loans after loans every week.
It is clear that Mamata Didi’s party neither has any concern for Goans nor it intends to implement what is promised. TMC’s intention is only to win elections by hook or crook.
The leaders who initially joined TMC, falling for such fake promises, are slowly understanding the “cruel” plans of TMC and thus are exiting the party.
The ECI has to tell the political parties that promise/distribution of irrational freebies from the public fund before the election unduly influences the voters, shakes the roots of the free-fair election, disturbs the level playing field, vitiates the purity of the election process, and violates Articles 14, 162 266(3) and 282.
The fulcrum of democracy is the electoral process. If the integrity of the electoral process is compromised, then the notion of representation becomes vacuous. Distribution of money and promise of freebies has reached alarming levels with elections being countermanded several times.
“The ‘tamasha’ has been going on for decades. Promises always remain as promises. Most of them, except freebies, are not implemented,” the petitioner has rightly said in the Supreme Court.
