Panaji: Leader of the Opposition, Yuri Alemao, has strongly criticized the BJP-led Goa government for allotting 3.33 lakh square meters of CADA-notified farmland in Dhargal, Pernem, to Delta Corp Ltd for the establishment of an “Integrated Resort Development Project,” which includes casino operations.
Alemao alleged that the government, which once promised to double farmers’ income, has instead “snatched” their land and handed it over to casino operators. “This move is a betrayal of farmers and a glaring example of crony capitalism,” he said.
He further condemned the decision, stating, “The BJP has already turned Panaji into a sin city and is now targeting peaceful villages like Dhargal to spoil them. The allocation of fertile agricultural land to casino projects is unacceptable.”
Calling for collective resistance, Alemao urged the people of Dhargal and Goa to unite and oppose what he termed as the government’s “menace of selling public land to corporate interests.”
The opposition has raised serious concerns over the use of CADA (Command Area Development Authority) land, which is reserved for agricultural purposes, and demanded that the allotment be withdrawn immediately.
