Panaji: Joseph School of Football (JSF), Goa, emerged as champions of the All India 6 a Side Open Girls Football Championship after defeating hosts Madhya Pradesh in a thrilling final in Indore on July 12.
The championship decider lived up to expectations as both teams displayed outstanding defensive discipline and tactical awareness. Neither side was able to find a breakthrough during regulation time, with the match ending in a goalless draw and the title being decided through a penalty shootout.
JSF Goa kept their nerves under pressure during the tiebreaker. Chelsi, Aarohi, and Jiya converted their penalties with confidence, giving the Goan side a crucial advantage. Goalkeeper Muskan then delivered a match winning performance by making vital saves to deny the Madhya Pradesh players, sealing a memorable victory and the national title for JSF Goa.
The triumph highlighted the team’s determination, discipline, and composure in one of the most competitive girls football tournaments in the country.
JSF Goa also enjoyed remarkable success in the individual awards, underlining their dominance throughout the competition.
Kavina Talwar was named Women Player of the Tournament for her outstanding performances, leadership, and ability to influence matches with her vision and consistent play. Her contributions proved instrumental in JSF’s unbeaten run to the championship.
Mazel Fernandes received the Showstopper of the Tournament award after impressing with her pace, dribbling skills, and attacking flair. Her exciting displays made her one of the standout performers of the tournament and earned widespread recognition.
With the championship trophy and two of the tournament’s biggest individual honours returning to Goa, JSF’s success marks another significant achievement for the state’s growing football talent. The victory reflects the academy’s commitment to developing young players capable of competing and excelling on the national stage.
