Margao: As the state Covid graph continues to spurge, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat on Thursday has criticized the BJP led government for failed policies while accusing them of not taking opposition into confidence in the decision making towards effective management of Covid crises.
Addressing the media, Kamat said, “From day one the opposition had offered full support to the state government but as we can see now, the opposition is kept in the dark and is not taken into confidence in the decision making.”
Kamat also revealed that he was not invited for the taluka level meeting chaired by Deputy CM Chandrakant Kavlekar to discuss about the various measures that needed to be adopted to avoid further spread of Covid in South Goa.
Leader of Opposition also demanded that the government comes out with a white paper on the exact financial condition of the state in view of the COVID-19 pandemic while also demanding for a financial package for weaker sections of society whose businesses had been severely affected due to Covid 19 pandemic.
Speaking on curtailed assembly session, Kamat said, “We have planned to raise questions and seek explanations from the government on the issues of State financial status, COVID-19 pandemic, Labour Scam, collapse of law and order, River Mhadei, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) clearances given to the projects in forest areas and Western Ghats, which are environmentally sensitive Zones.”
“It is unfortunate that the government has reduced the duration of the forthcoming Goa Legislative Assembly Session, which provides opportunity to the Opposition to raise people’s issues and seek replies from the government,” Kamat said.
