PORVORIM: Narendra Jivappa Gaude, 25, of Hukkeri-Belagavi, has been taken into custody by Porvorim police on suspicion of stealing power meters from the open areas of the Porvorim electricity department.
Porvorim police reported that an Assistant Engineer in the Electricity Department (Sub Division II) had filed a police complaint alleging that, before September 23, an unidentified individual had entered the open premises of the department and left with energy meters valued at Rs 7,000.
The police team traced the offender in Belgaum and retrieved the stolen stuff from him. He was also found in possession of a scooter that is thought to have been stolen from Maharashtra.
After the accused was brought before the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Mapusa by the police, he was placed under two-day custody.
Under the direction of DySP Viswesh Karpe, SP North Akshat Kaushal, PI Rahul Parab, and PSI Shirodkar, additional research is being conducted.
