PANAJI: Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) said that it will no longer be offering its pass concession program to workers in corporations, autonomous bodies, and government departments as of July 1.
KTCL Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar said that in order to find different ways to give benefits to government employees who receive lower transport allowances as part of their salaries, the issue will be discussed with the Chief Minister and the Transport Minister.
“We have noticed that many workers at corporations, aided institutions, and autonomous bodies receive smaller transportation allowances as part of their pay. Thus, in order to investigate possible solutions, we will talk about this issue with the Chief Minister and the Minister of Transportation,” he said.
“No renewals will be processed after July 1; however, pass holders may continue using their issued passes until their validity expires,” he stated.
Derrick Pereira Neto, Managing Director of KTC, announced in a circular on June 11 that pass concessions for workers in corporations, aided institutions, autonomous bodies, and state and federal government departments would be discontinued.
This program was first launched by the late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, is being discontinued is that pass holders will continue to receive their transport allowance, which is considered a double benefit.
Due to the modification, hundreds of workers will now be responsible for paying for their commuting expenses.
