CURCHOREM: International labour day was celebrated by District Legal Services Authority South Goa, Margao, in association with Taluka Legal Services, Quepem, by organizing a function in the CCMC administrative building hall at Curchorem on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, Judge Sarika Faldessai said intending to empower unorganized sector workers, the central Government has established e-shram registration. Small businessmen, including street vendors, fruits and vegetable vendors, workers working in ice cream and beauty parlours etc, are supposed to register their names in the e-shram scheme.
She further said this will enable them to avail of various facilities, including accidental benefits. This e-shram registration will be done in CCMC Administrative building from 9th May to 13th May from 10 am onwards. She appealed to all the unorganized workers to register themselves in e-shram scheme.
Chairperson Vishwas Sawant said that the formation of e-shram registration reveals that the Government is concerned about the unorganized sector workers, and this scheme will empower them. The labour class finds it very difficult to make both ends meet.
This scheme will help them to make their life easy. He appealed to the workers to create awareness among their fellow workers and actuate them to register their names in the e-shram.
Judge Sarika Faldessai, resource person Vinita Harmalkar, retired PP Adv Bhanudas Gaonkar(special judicial magistrate), CCMC chairperson Vishwas Sawant, labour inspector Sachin Dessai, Shridhar Acharya of CHC, Abhijeet Dessai and others were present at the occasion.
