PANAJI: Goa Forward Party (GFP) today alleged that nearly 40 lakh sq meters of green cover has been converted under Mopa Planning and Development Authority (MPDA).
“40 lakh sq meters of green cover has been converted under Mopa Planning and Development Authority (MPDA),” said GFP Chief Vijai Sardesai.
He further said that he was not in any competition with Chief Minister, Minister or Opposition Leader.
“I and Goa Forward is here to fight for Goa and people of Goa” he added
Vijai further said that IPB should be linked to create employment and not land conversions. Land conversions are done in name of IPB.
The GFP Chief also criticised the state government for looting the land given for industrial purposes at Zuari
“Minister’s have become agents of real estate lobbies outside Goa; lands are being sold to private developers by government,” he added.
Sardesai said that Zuari land issue is a burning issue since the fate of 50 lakh square metres worth around Rs 50,000 crore is at stake.
“Goa’s first Chief Minister Dayanand Narvekar had handed over 50 lakh square metres of land to Zuari Agro at the rate of Rs 25 paisa per metre to set up an industry to create jobs for the unemployed youth and to take the State forward,” he said
Speaking on unemployment, Vijai said that as per the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) released by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Goa’s unemployment rate is second highest in the country at 9.7%.
