PANAJI: Former Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte today said that he was happy with the decision of the TCP Minister to keep the Pernem Zoning plan in abeyance as it decision for all the people and not an individual.
“I am happy with the decision of the TCP Minister to keep the Pernem Zoning plan in abeyance as it decision for all the people and not an individual. why have the people of Pernem kept quiet for the last six months over the zoning plan issue,” said Sopte
He further said that the decision to demolish the farmhouse owned by MLA Jit Arolkar cannot be taken by him as he is not the minister.
“I don’t have that much power; I have not studied the matter of whether the farmhouse if illegal or not,” said Sopte
Sopte said that when the Minister himself speaks on this illegal structure, it cannot be false. “He will simply make any statement with getting all the papers and information,” he added
“I am happy that the decision has been made by the minister in favour of the people. All the people of Pernem will be taken into confidence before going ahead with any plan,” he adds
TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane on Friday had claimed that Independent Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar had come to him personally to convert 1 lakh square metres of land and now he is demanding to scrap the Pernem Zoning Plan.
Rane also alleged that the MLA has built a farmhouse in a paddy field which is illegal. “I have asked the TCP department to issue a show cause notice and an order to demolish the building,” the Minister had said.
“The MLA himself is committing illegalities and trying to portray that he is awakening the people and working for the betterment of the people,” Rane had alleged.
