CANACONA: Locals reacted angrily for govt’s long failure to erect protection at the vulnerable accident-prone zone at the Karmalghat to-Margao NH66 section, called for immediate attention to remove the traffic bottlenecks at Karmalghat, provide side set-backs on the narrow and dangerous Gulem NH-66 section on the primary basis but to no avail!’.
One Mumbai youth died, while four others were injured when their vehicle fell into a valley at Karmalghat on Monday.
Incidentally, the situation at the Karmalghat accident site was very tense, with people talking in different and violent tones about the government’s failure to tackle the very vulnerable accident-prone zone.
None blamed the motorists for gauging the serene situation at the treacherous turn; even some passing by interstate motorists were heard shouting the sharp and unprotected Curve is purposely kept to trap unsuspecting motorists.
