CANACONA: The Communidade of Loliem-Polem has scheduled an extraordinary general body meeting on July 6, 2025, to decide on conducting a joint inspection and land survey before leasing out one lakh square metres of land to Mallikarjun Multifruit Processing Producer Co. Ltd. (MMPPCL). A public notice issued by the communidade and published in a local daily states that the meeting of components in ordinary form will be held at 10:30 am in the Sabhamandap of Shri Keshav Devalaya, Loliem, following its publication in the official gazette.
The meeting is being held to deliberate on files forwarded by the Administrator of South Zone regarding the proposed lease of land under survey number 358/1, owned by the Loliem-Polem Communidade, to MMPPCL. The land is intended for establishing multiple agro-based small-scale units. Attorney of the communidade Vishwajeet Warik stated that while the lease of one lakh square metres was already approved during an earlier extraordinary GBM, the July 6 meeting has been convened following instructions from the Head Office to obtain formal consent of the components for a joint inspection and survey of the plots.
MMPPCL has proposed to set up eight units, requesting 10,000 square metres each for jackfruit, coconut, turmeric, mango, and banana processing units. Additionally, the firm has sought 13,765 square metres for an agro-caju processing unit, 30,000 square metres for an agro-dairy farming unit, and 6,235 square metres for a kokum processing unit — all under the Small Scale Industry category.
The Loliem-Polem LDC/Escrivao has urged all communidade members and components to attend the meeting and participate in the decision-making process. It may be recalled that at an extraordinary general body meeting held on April 6, 2025, the communidade had approved all eight files submitted by MMPPCL for the proposed agro-projects on the communidade land.
